Job Description

• Assess and interpret evaluations and test results to develop occupational therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians or by prescription.
• Help patients develop or regain physical or mental functioning or adjust to disabilities through various therapeutic programs including manual arts and crafts, functional and vocational skills, activities of daily living, sensorimotor, educational, recreational, and social activities.
• Direct aides, technicians, and assistants in therapy programs.
• Promote maximum independence by tailoring therapies to individual physical capacity, intelligence, and interests.
• Prepare patients for return to employment by consulting with employers and assisting with accommodations and retraining.
• Evaluate patient progress and adjust therapy plans accordingly.
• Participate in discharge planning and coordinate with healthcare team members.
• Design and instruct home exercise programs and recommend assistive equipment or follow-up care.
• Document patient care services accurately in records.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with infection-control policies.
• Ensure safe and clean working environment and proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
• Maintain professional knowledge through continuing education and professional development.
• Provide in-service training to occupational therapy staff.
• Comply with federal, state, and local legal and certification requirements.
• Collaborate with rehabilitation services leadership and clinical departments.
• Supervise rehabilitation aides.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Occupational Therapist license in Colorado
• Occupational Therapist with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification

Physical Demands

• Frequent walking, bending, stooping, and squatting.
• Full range of motion in all major joints.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently.
• Ability to sit for up to 2 hours at a time.
• Manual dexterity to operate equipment and computers.
• Work indoors in a well-lit, ventilated area.
• Potential exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials.
• Risk of injury from moving patients and heavy equipment.
