Job Opportunity: CT Technologist (Travel/Contract)

Job Description

  • Position for a CT Technologist with IV certification (REQUIRED).
  • Preferably experienced with Siemens equipment and able to perform X-Rays.
  • Work schedule:
    • Training: First 2 weeks, Tuesday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 6 PM.
    • Regular shift: Monday to Friday, Midnight to 8 AM (30-minute lunch).
  • Caseload: Up to 20 patients daily, often fewer due to low volume.
  • Work independently due to low volume on the shift.
  • Patient population includes Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, and Geriatrics.
  • Specialty hospital focusing on Orthopedic exams in exam rooms or via portable equipment.
  • May rotate across multiple departments within the hospital or private sector locations nearby.

Procedure Experience Required

  • X-Ray: Extremities, Spine/Pelvis, Head, Chest/Thorax, Musculoskeletal, Lower and Upper Extremities
  • CT: Abdomen, Pelvis, Head/Neck, Chest, Spine, Musculoskeletal, Brain Perfusion, CT Angiographies (CTAs), Multiplanar Reconstruction

Certifications & Licenses Required

  • IV Certification (REQUIRED)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
  • DOHNYS (New York State Department of Health Radiologic Technologist License)
  • Additional preferred certifications: ACLS, PALS, NRP, Chemotherapy certification (as applicable)
  • Must have valid NY State X-Ray/Radiology tech license and ARRT license.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, or move patients and equipment over 150 pounds (with or without assistive devices).

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience required.
  • Unit accepts first-time travelers.

  • Scrubs color: Charcoal Grey

Compliance & Training Requirements

  • Completion of various competency exams including:
    • Medication/Pharmacology Competency
    • Color Blind Testing (must score 100%)
    • Unit-specific Competency Exam
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (time-sensitive, pass/fail)
  • Annual mandatory trainings:
    • Core Parts I, II, III
    • OSHA Mandatory Training
    • NY Harassment Prevention Training
  • Facility-specific documents and acknowledgments including:
    • Privacy, Information Security & Confidentiality Agreement
    • Drug-Free Workplace Policy
    • Quality, Regulatory, and Safety Practices
    • Staff Handbook and Code of Conduct
  • Photo for badge required within 72 hours of contract signing (specific photo guidelines apply).

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam clearance within 1 year of start, updated annually.
  • Fit test for N95 masks within 1 year, updated annually (exceptions apply).
  • Vaccinations and titers required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella titers with vaccination follow-up if needed
    • Hepatitis B positive titer or declination
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
  • Drug screening per Aya Healthcare standards (9-panel, within 1 year).

Background & Verification

  • Criminal background check within 30 days of start (7-year search including multiple databases).
  • Employment and education verification (7 years history minimum).
  • References: 2 manager/supervisor references required (specific acceptable titles).
  • State-specific searches and federal exclusions checks (SAM, OIG) within 30 days of start.
  • Foreign equivalency evaluation if education completed outside the US.

Additional Notes

  • Initial onboarding and continued education modules must be completed within 30 days of start.
  • Traveler must establish system username and password prior to orientation.
  • Must comply with all NYU Langone policies and procedures.

This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a specialty orthopedic hospital with a diverse patient population and a variety of imaging procedures. Ideal candidates are experienced CT Technologists with strong independent work skills and required certifications.
