Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

Location: La Jolla, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Day shift, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM, 3 shifts per week (12-hour shifts, 36 hours/week)
• Patient Assignment: Labor patients; may need to circulate in Cesarean sections if necessary
• Team Support: In-house anesthesia team, mentor group, resource nurses, break nurses, and lactation team available
• Triaging: Not required for travelers

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
• Minimum of 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience, with recent experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Experience

• Minimum years of experience: Not explicitly stated; standard RN experience expected for Labor and Delivery specialty
• Prior travel experience: Not required

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Negative TB test (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) or chest X-ray within 12 months; annual updates required
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine (no declinations accepted)
• Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and Varicella immunity (2 vaccines or titer with boosters if needed; no declinations accepted)
• Hepatitis B vaccination series, titer, or signed declination
• 9-panel drug test within 1 year of start
• COVID-19 vaccination required or approved medical/religious exemption with documentation
• Seasonal flu vaccination or agency flu declination required year-round
• N95 fit test within 1 year of start; must use approved mask models; no onsite testing available
• Completion of facility-specific learning modules (approx. 8 hours) prior to start
• Signed Pyxis acknowledgment prior to start
• Completion and signature of facility standards of conduct and confidentiality/non-disclosure agreements prior to start (annual renewal required)
• Vaccine attestation form must be completed regardless of vaccination status

Additional Notes

• No scrub color requirement; scrubs provided by the facility for OR and Labor & Delivery
• Experience with EPIC or Cerner electronic health records preferred; less than 6 months experience may result in assignment cancellation
• Background checks required including 7-year criminal background, SSN trace, county, state, federal, and national sex offender searches
• HHS/OIG clearance required
• Documentation must be visually verified and signed by the candidate and uploaded appropriately
• Flu vaccinations available free of charge at employee health clinics for contractors with facility badge
