Registered Nurse (LDRP) - Night Shift

Location: Fort Morgan, Colorado
Contract Length: 16 weeks

Unit Overview

• Unit: Labor & Delivery / Postpartum / Mother-Baby (L&D/PP/MB)
• LDRP Beds: 4
• OR Suites for C-Sections: 1
• Triage Beds: 2
• Postpartum Beds: 3
• Births: 0-2 per day, approximately 200 per year
• Follows AWHONN guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratios as much as possible in a rural setting

Schedule & Work Hours

• Shift: Nights (6 PM – 6 AM)
• Hours per week: 36
• Weekend Requirement: Approximately half of all weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
• Holiday Requirement: Half of winter holidays
• Scheduling: Some self-scheduling allowed but may be adjusted based on unit needs
• Floating: Rarely required to assist MedSurg

Required Certifications

• ACLS (American Heart Association)
• BLS (American Heart Association)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring

Experience & Skills

• Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery experience
• Must be trained in LDRP
• Ability to triage and function as the baby catcher/transition nurse
• Responsible for titrating drips (e.g., Pitocin)
• Candidates do NOT need to circulate C-sections or manage post-op gynecological patients

Clinical Environment & Support

• No nurse aides or surgical techs on the unit
• Charge nurse is one of two nurses on shift and takes an assignment
• OB physicians are on-call after hours with a 20-minute response time; not in-house 24/7
• Anesthesia available in-house during business hours and on-call after hours with a 20-minute response time
• Respiratory therapists are not always available; pediatric on-call staff may assist with deliveries if RT is unavailable
• Respiratory equipment includes Bubble CPAP, CPAP, and nasal cannula
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring system: OBIX
• RNs are required to read their own fetal monitoring strips

Orientation & Onboarding

• Unit-specific orientation: 3 days, night shift (6 PM – 6 AM)
• Clinicians must be in-state for the week of orientation, even if some modules are completed remotely

Additional Information

• Must submit a valid driver’s license (DL) within a 60-mile radius
• Scrubs are not provided; no specific color requirement

Summary

This is a night shift RN position in a rural LDRP unit requiring at least 1 year of L&D experience and specific certifications including ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring. The role involves direct patient care including triage, baby catching, and drip titration, with limited support staff and on-call physician coverage. The contract length is approximately 16 weeks.

• Valid RN license in Colorado
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
• Labor Delivery Recovery & Postpartum (LDRP) experience
• ACLS (American Heart Association)
• BLS (American Heart Association)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring
• Ability to function as the baby catcher/transition nurse
