Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (Travel/Contract)

Location: Jefferson City, Missouri
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Patient population: Adults and Geriatrics
• Floating between units is required
• Must work at least 50% of holidays during the contract
• No local candidates within 50 miles accepted
• Active role requiring ambulation, reaching, and moving objects over 20 lbs
• Exposure to contagious illnesses possible
• Facility operates 24/7, requiring rotating shifts, holiday work, and work during inclement weather
• Must be able to work full shifts, take call, work assigned weekends, and remain at assigned work location for the contract duration

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
• Minimum 2 years of Telemetry nursing experience, with at least 1 year of recent Telemetry experience
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Additional Requirements

• Must be able to work assigned weekends, holidays, and take call
• Floating between units is mandatory
• Must be able to work full shifts and remain at assigned location for entire contract
• First-time travel nurses are accepted (no prior travel experience required)

Physical and Work Environment

• Active position requiring physical stamina
• Exposure to contagious diseases possible
• Work includes ambulating, reaching, and lifting/moving objects over 20 lbs
• Facility open 24/7, requiring flexibility for rotating shifts, holidays, and inclement weather

Certifications & Competencies

• Core competency exams as applicable
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification if working in Psych/Behavioral Health (not required for this role)

Important Notes

• Background checks and state-specific searches are time sensitive and must be completed within specified timeframes before start
• Documentation such as photo for badge, employment eligibility, and confidentiality agreements required within 60 days of start
• Candidates with positive TB results must complete facility-specific INH recommendation form
• Fit testing is not required for Medical Technologist, Pharmacy Techs, or Sterile Processing Techs but is required for RNs
• Candidates must comply with all health and safety protocols including immunizations and screenings
