Cath Lab Tech - Travel/Contract

Location: Hazard, Kentucky
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM (10-hour shifts, 5 days/week)
  • Rotating weekday off each week
  • On-call expectation: 8 to 10 days per month
  • On-call rotation includes one night per week (5:30 PM to 7:00 AM) and one weekend every 3 weeks (Friday 5:30 PM through Sunday 7:00 AM)
  • Call team consists of 2 RNs and 1 Radiologist Technologist
  • Must respond within 30 minutes for STEMI alerts
  • Cath Lab performs 8-10 procedures daily across 2 Cath Labs, averaging 6-8 STEMI cases monthly
  • Duties include assisting with diagnostic and interventional cardiology cases using devices such as Shock wave, Balloon Pump, Impella, EKOS, Penumbra, and Acist Contrast injector
  • Device implants include pacemaker and ICD (single, dual, Bi-V leads), peripheral diagnostics, and interventions
  • Cross-training to Electrophysiology (EP) lab for ablations is preferred; EP experience is a plus and training is available
  • Procedures use both radial and groin vascular access
  • Scrubs and lead apron provided

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Cath Lab Technologist license in Kentucky
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Cath Lab Technologist
  • Cath Lab Technologist experience within the last year
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Certifications & Competencies

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - AHA Instructor/Provider/RQI
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA Instructor/Provider/RQI
  • National Certification/Verification as applicable by profession and state
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required within 1 year of start, updated annually)
  • Core Competency Exams (Parts I, II, III)
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Comprehensive background check including 9-panel drug screen (no THC) with expanded opiates and oxycodone, run through specified vendor within 30 days of start
  • 7-year work history verification through a 3rd-party vendor or attestation letters if verification attempts fail
  • Two professional references within 1 year of start date (supervisor or higher; one can be Charge RN)
  • Employment application/resume with education and work history
  • Annual skills checklist

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Annual physical exam or physician statement within 1 year prior to start, confirming clearance to work without restrictions
  • Fit mask test to be completed onsite; PAPRs not accommodated if facial hair present
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination valid within 10 years (Td not accepted; declinations acceptable if within 1 year of start)
  • Negative TB test via QuantiFERON blood test within 1 year prior to start (T-Spot/PPD not accepted); if positive, chest X-ray within 5 years plus TB questionnaire required
  • Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR doses or positive titer)
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination (declination must be within 1 year of start)
  • Varicella immunity proof (2 vaccinations or positive titer)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season; exemption requests must be submitted and approved prior to start

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Job description signed and dated annually
  • Employee health attestation and documentation including TB results, OSHA respirator medical evaluation, and flu vaccine/exemption uploaded to employee health portal prior to start
  • Review and acknowledgment of fit test policy and quick badge instructions
  • Medical or religious exemptions for latex allergy and respirator fit test must be disclosed prior to start

Additional Notes

  • Orientation occurs bi-weekly
  • Assignment confirmation must be submitted within 24 hours of offer acceptance
  • Candidates must not be submitted to multiple jobs simultaneously
